Charred & Carved Maple Vase – One-of-a-Kind Wood Art

Description

A bold study in contrast, this one-of-a-kind maple vase combines the warmth of natural wood with the dramatic depth of a charred black exterior.

Hand-turned from maple, the vase has been carefully carved with an organic flowing band of openings that wraps around the form. The carved areas reveal the natural golden maple beneath the charred surface, creating a striking interplay of light, texture, and color. Each opening is individually carved, giving the pattern an intentionally irregular, natural character.

The exterior is charred and finished with multiple coats of shellac, creating a smooth, warm luster while preserving the visual depth of the blackened wood. The natural maple rim and base provide a subtle contrast that completes the design.

This is a sculptural vessel intended to be appreciated as a work of wood art. It can be displayed on its own or incorporated into a collection of contemporary or natural-form decor.
