Description
This one-of-a-kind elm hollow form blends traditional woodturning with surface carving and pyrography to create a tactile, sculptural vessel.
Turned to a soft, rounded profile, the form is accented with hand-carved leaf motifs set into a textured, pyrography-darkened field. The contrast between the natural elm grain and the burned surface adds visual depth while emphasizing the organic character of the wood. The rim and lower body are left clean and refined, allowing the carved elements to stand forward without overpowering the form.
Finished with multiple coats of polyurethane, the surface has a durable, satin sheen that enhances clarity, color, and contrast.
This piece reflects the same standards as my juried art show work and is made as a single, finished piece—not part of a production run.
