Description
This one-of-a-kind vase is turned from spalted maple, a wood prized for the natural dark “ink lines” created as the wood begins to decompose. These organic lines and tonal shifts are not added or enhanced—they are the result of natural processes within the wood, making each piece visually unique.
The form is clean and restrained, allowing the dramatic surface patterning to remain the focus. Subtle asymmetry and variation in the grain add depth and movement, rewarding close inspection from every angle. The surface has been carefully refined to highlight contrast while preserving the character of the material.
Made individually on the lathe, this piece reflects the same standards as my juried art show work and is a single, finished piece—not part of a production run.
Please refer to the FAQ section for care and maintenance details, finish information, and notes on one-of-a-kind natural variation; this listing is for the exact piece shown.
